1. There are more than 700 Pure Bred Dogs in the world. 2. The dogs are descended from tiny weasel like mammal the Miacis - which existed some 40 millions years ago. 3. Their evolution is from the wolves and foxes. 4. The present form of Dogs appeared in Eurasia about 13, 000 years ago. 5. Dogs are used as guards, as eyes for the blind, and as drugs and explosive detectors etc. 6. Dogs are not COLOR Blind. 7. Like human beings they can be either right or left handed. 8. They can register sounds of 35,000 hrtz. per second unlike humans whose limits are from 20, to 20 000 hrtz. 9. They have many more sensory cells than our meagre 50,00, 000 - upto 22,00,00.000 in a German Shephard. 10. Their life span is about 15 years, but it is not unknown that they live upto 30 years. 11. The tallest of all dogs is the Great Dane, and the Irish Wolfhound. 12. The smallest dogs are the Chihuahua, The Yorkshire Terier, and the Toy Poodle. 13. Greyhounds can reach a speed of 45 M.P.H. in short bursts. 14. The Chinese Royalty love the Pekingese, and tuck them in the sleeves of their Royal Robes. 15. DOGS MAKE THE BEST OF PETS. Origin of Trivia is NOT so Trivial. Trivia are unimportant or trivial items, especially of Information. In the late 20th century, the expression came to apply to information of the kind useful almost exclusively for answering quiz questions. A perfect trivia question is one that initially stumps the listener, but the answer subsquently sounds familiar once revealed. Otherwise, the question would be considered either too familiar and therefore not trivia, or so unfamiliar and obscure as to be unanwerable and not as entertaining. The collection of trivia or a study of Trivia is known as SPERMOLOGY. this literally means collection of seeds. The origin of the word starts from 'Tri' meaning three, and 'via' meaning way, road. This word TRIVIA was popularised by two students of Columbia University - Ed Goodgold & Dan Carlinsky as early as the 1960s. They created the earliest inter-collegiate quizzes that tested culturally important and unimportant facts, which they dubbed "trivia contests."
